Ms. Houda Al Rihawi, an accomplished educator and scholar, holds a law degree from Damascus University. Her Arabic teaching journey commenced in Tunisia, where she served as a language partner at the Foreign Service Institute's Field School. She generously provided pro bono lessons to women from around the world eager to explore Arabic studies.
In 2008, alongside her husband, Abdelwahab Qadri, she co-founded the Centre Sidi Bou Saïd de Langues et d'Informatique, forging collaborations with esteemed institutions. Her teaching career continued at the Foreign Service Institute and Middlebury College, where she taught Arabic and organized enriching cultural programs.
In 2015, she co-crafted a new Arabic curriculum for the Defense Critical Language and Cultural Program (DCLP) in Fort Campbell, TN, earning a Certificate of Appreciation. Today, Ms. Houda Al Rihawi leads Al Bayt Al Arabi, welcoming students from across the U.S. seeking a profound Arabic studies journey.
Professor Abdelwahab Qadri, a seasoned Arabic educator with 30+ years of experience, began his teaching journey in 1983 at King Saud University in Riyadh, instructing foreign professors and diplomats, including the American Ambassador and British Consul.
In Tunisia, he spent 17 years at the Foreign Service Institute's Field School, introducing innovative media training and deepening students' understanding of the Middle East, North Africa, and the Arab Gulf States. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, Professor Qadri received four Meritorious Honor Awards, the Franklin Award, and four Appreciation Awards from the United States Department of State for his unique curriculum and teaching methods.
In 2008, he co-founded the Centre Sidi Bou Saïd de Langues et d'Informatique. His commitment to sharing Arabic language and culture extended to the DMV area with the establishment of Al Bayt Al Arabi, offering immersive Arabic learning experiences to students across the United States.
